Insurance Licensing Requirements in Washington DC:

DC does not require pre-licensing training before taking the licensing exam. Applicants for Life, Health, Property and Casualty insurance should prepare for the exam and register with the Testing Provider: Pearson VUE at 800-274-5993 or http://www.pearsonvue.com.

Continuing Education Requirements in Washington DC:

Continuing education is required for all resident District of Columbia producers. A total of 24 hours of CE credit is required every two years.

Line Specific Requirements:
Hours must be taken in lines for which license is held - a minimum of 6 hours must be taken for each line when licensed for Life/Health and Property/Casualty

Annuity
4 hrs - Effective 6/24/2011, all producers currently licensed to sell/solicit/negotiate annuity products must complete a one-time annuity training course approved for at least 4 hours by 12/24/2011.  All producers licensed on or after 6/24/2011 must complete this training prior to selling/soliciting/negotiating such products.

Ethics

3 hrs -
All Producers must complete 3 hrs of Ethics as part of the totat requirement

Flood
3 hrs - All Property/Casualty producers must complete a one-time 3 hr NFIP course
 

Compliance Renewal Date:
Licenses renew on the last day of the producers birth month, biennially

Carryover Hours:
Not allowed

Course Repetition:
Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in a biennium

Reporting Method:
CE credits are reported online on State Based Systems.
